TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 20. Tariffs on water and sanitation services in Uzbekistan’s region of Andijan will increase in October 2023, Trend reports.
As per data provided by Uzsuvtaminot JSC, an Uzbek company responsible for water supply and sewerage and rational use of drinking water, the tariff increase will only affect the Andijan region.
The company states that the price of 750 soums (6 cents) per cubic meter of water is considered unacceptable as the water supply to the capital of the region and its remote areas is carried out through the 150-200 km long Khanabad – Andijan central drinking water pipe due to the consumption of a large volumes of electricity.
Thus, the new tariffs for water will amount to:
1,500 soums (12 cents) per 1 cubic meter for the population
2,400 soums (20 cents) per 1 cubic meter for budgetary organizations
3,800 soums (31 cents) per 1 cubic meter for legal organizations
Simultaneously, the cost of sanitation services will be fixed at:
1,500 soums (12 cents) per 1 cubic meter for the population
2,400 soums (20 cents) per 1 cubic meter for budgetary organizations
3,200 soums (26 cents) per 1 cubic meter for legal organizations
Earlier this month, Uzbekistan expressed its readiness to develop a National Water Conservation Program as part of the Development Strategy.
In addition, Uzbekistan is implementing full-scale measures to improve the efficiency of water use in the country. Over the past 7 years, water-saving technologies have been implemented on an area of more than 1 million hectares, which is about a quarter of all irrigated land in the country.
