TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 25. Uzbekistan will start receiving Russian natural gas on October 1, Trend reports.
As per Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy, a two-year term contract was signed between Uzbekistan's UzGastrade JSC and Russia’s Gazprom Export LLC during the Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 16.
Uzbekistan intends to bring in 9 million cubic meters of natural gas daily starting on October 1. The ministry reports that the annual gas import is expected to reach nearly 2.8 billion cubic meters. The gas will be transported through the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline system.
Earlier, Uzbekistan’s Uzbekneftegaz, the largest oil and gas producer in Uzbekistan, reported that the estimated natural gas reserves in Uzbekistan amount to 1.8 trillion cubic meters.
Meanwhile, Uzbekneftegaz and its enterprises have overfilled the export plan by 16.2 percent over the first quarter of the current year.
