TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 5. Wildberries, Russia's largest online retailer, and the administration of Uzbekistan’s Tashkent region have signed a Memorandum on Cooperation, Trend reports.
The memorandum was signed by the governor of the Tashkent region Zoir Mirzayev and Director for International Development of Wildberries Rafael Abramyan at the third Interregional Cooperation Forum between Russia and Uzbekistan in Kazan.
The signed document presupposes the development of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Wildberries and the construction of a $140 million-worth logistics hub, which has the potential to become the largest logistics center of the company outside of Russia.
The center is scheduled to open in 2025 and is planned to create over 7,500 jobs for residents of Uzbekistan. Wildberries is already preparing a feasibility study of the construction project and the necessary project documentation.
Wildberries said that this project will contribute to the development of online commerce in Uzbekistan and will support local producers in the sale of goods both inside and outside the country.
Earlier this year, Uzbekistan revealed that the volume of foreign investments for the first half of 2023 fixed at 139.1 trillion Uzbek soums ($11.4 billion).
Moreover, a protocol aimed at improving the investment environment in Uzbekistan was signed during a session of the Foreign Investors Council in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent earlier this year. The document included proposals for enhancing the investment climate in Uzbekistan.
