Uzbekistan to expand capacity of Navoi’s electricity grid

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, December 23. Uzbekistan is constructing new electric substations in the Korazhon and Navbakhor districts of the Uzbek Navoi region, Trend reports.

As per data by Uzbekistan’s Energy Ministry, the consolidated capacity of the substations is said to amount to 45 kW.

The substations are to be equipped with external power transmission networks, new power transformers, modern current and voltage transformers, disconnectors and power amplifiers.

The ministry states that the new energy infrastructure will allow for stable electricity supply to more than 82,000 households and enterprises in the region.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan plans to attract $7 billion of private investment to create an additional 9 GW of generating capacity. The total volume of necessary investments in the electric power industry is estimated at $52 billion.

Uzbekistan has produced 63.02 billion kWh of electricity from January through October 2023.

As per data by Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee, the recorded number reflects a 5.1 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022.
