TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 10. A company from the United Arab Emirates plans to invest $30 million in a project to grow berries in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports.
According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Agriculture, an orchard with a total area of 470 hectares will be created in Pakhtaabad district of the Andijan region in cooperation with the Agency for Agricultural Services under the Ministry of Agriculture.
At the first stage of the project, it is planned to cultivate blueberries in pots on an area of 20 hectares using a drip irrigation system.
In the long term, it is planned to cultivate not only blueberries but also raspberries and vegetable products.
By planting 4,000 bushes on one hectare of land, an average yield of 400 to 500 tons is expected. Special nets will be installed to protect the berries from high temperatures.
Earlier, Emirati Masdar Energy Company revealed its total investment in Uzbekistan.
The investment volume amounted to $4 billion, with 1.4 GW of green energy from its projects now part of Uzbekistan's national power grid.
