TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 24. Uzbekistan's Asaka Motors plans to launch production of Hyundai cars at its plant in the Syrdarya region in May this year, Trend reports.
According to the Syrdarya region government, Asaka Motors International and Hyundai Motor Company have reached an agreement on the organization of the production of Hyundai-branded cars at the plant in Syrdarya district.
The project will be realized in two stages. At the first stage, the sides plan to organize large-block assembly of Elantra and Sonata sedans, Palisade, Santa Fe, and Tucson crossovers, as well as the Staria minivan.
Asaka Motors intends to complete work on mastering welding, painting, and advanced assembly processes by the end of 2024.
As part of the second stage, both companies plan to localize the production of automotive components, including the construction of a component manufacturing cluster in the region.
Meanwhile, Asaka Motors launched an Exceed production plant in the country. The lifting equipment and equipment for testing various automotive parameters have already been installed in the plant.
At the initial stage, Asaka Motor plans to produce some 5,000 Exeed cars per year, while in the near future, car production will increase to 20,000 units per year.
