TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 24. Uzbekistan’s volume of heat energy production amounted to 8.6 million Gcal from January through March 2024, Trend reports.
The data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency shows that the production volume of heat energy has increased by 4.8 percent, compared to the same period last year (8.2 million Gcal in January-March 2023).
At the same time, the country’s volume of heat energy production has increased by 2.7 million Gcal (5.9 million Gcal in January-February 2024).
Furthermore, Uzbekistan produced 24.3 million Gcal of heat energy in 2023.
Meanwhile, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) provided assistance on a $1.5 billion project to modernize the heating system of Uzbekistan's Tashkent.
According to ADB, the project aims to lower carbon emissions in Uzbekistan, enhance energy efficiency, decrease water usage and leakage, and improve the quality and dependability of the country's heat supply.
When the initiative is fully implemented, it is expected to reduce network heat losses by more than 40 percent, minimize breakdowns, reduce water leakage by more than 60 percent, and reduce electricity consumption by more than 15 percent in the country.
