Iran, Bahrain to Resume Gas Talks in October

Iran Materials 23 September 2007 17:42 (UTC +04:00)

( Fars News Agency) The Bahraini Minister of Oil and Gas Affairs stated that the Bahrain-Iran technical committee will hold its second round of talks in Tehran next month to prepare the final draft of a gas import agreement.

According to the minister, if everything goes according to the plan, the import of Iranian gas would begin in 2012. He added that the negotiations would last for a year and laying the pipelines would take another three to four years.

The two sides are studying ways to facilitate the import, whereby either Bahrain would invest in the Iranian oil fields in cooperation with an international firm and would be provided with gas in return or it would import the gas directly.
