The National Iranian Gas Company has reduced gas supply to 15 electricity power plants as it starts major repairs on its gas refineries, Pana news agency reports.

The power plants need about 130 million cubic meters of natural gas a day to operate, but receive only 90 million cubic meters a day.

The power plants rely on 30 million liters of fuel oil and 10 million liters of diesel daily to operate.

Spring and summer months are typically when overhauls and periodic repairs are done on oil and gas installations.
