Iran will not sell Turkey natural gas on discount prices, Iranian deputy oil minister said, adding that Iran may boost gas export to its neighboring country by 5 million cubic meters per day.

"I have not heard anything about Turkey's request to import Iranian gas on discount prices," Javad Owji told Mehr News Agency.

Iran is obliged to export as much as 30 million cubic meters of gas to Turkey per day, and the figure can be increased to 35 million cubic meters, he added.

Turkey has requested a discount on gas it imports from Iran, Hurriyet newspaper said, citing Energy Minister Taner Yildiz.

Turkey imports 16 percent to 20 percent of its natural gas from Iran, which is its most expensive source of imported gas, the Istanbul-based newspaper quoted Yildiz as saying. The price is unacceptable, so Turkey has requested a discount, he was quoted as saying.
