The Iranian newly elected Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has argued that Iran is ready to start scheduled purposive negotiations with P5+1 on Iran's nuclear issue, Fars news agency reported.

Zarif made the remarks during a phone talk with head of EU`s foreign policy and chief negotiator on Iran's nuclear program, Catherine Ashton.

Zarif also called EU for new ideas on the issue, adding that, Iran's peaceful nuclear rights should be recognized, the report said.

According to the report, Ashton has congratulated Zarif as Iran's New Foreign Minister during her initiated phone talk, expressing hope that, a new round of negotiations between Iran and P5+1 would start as soon as possible.

She also expressed her interest on meeting with Zarif and talking bilateral issues during the UN General Assembly meeting in the current year.

Two sides also discussed regional issues including Egypt's critical situation and threat of extremism, the report said.
