Iran's home appliances sector improves production

TEHRAN, Iran, August 11. Iran is producing about 90 to 95 percent of basic materials and parts for home appliances, said head of Association of Home Appliances Manufacturers Morsel Sadigh, Trend reports citing ISNA.

Domestic production is in a good situation and the import of basic materials that have Iranian analogues, should be banned, he said.

"However, the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade has allowed the import of faucets and gas burners," Sadigh noted.

He stressed that domestic producers can't compete with foreign commodities that have low production costs.

According to the official, home appliances parts are mainly imported from Germany, Italy, Spain, and China, and this damages Iran's domestic industry.

The Iranian government has previously announced that the administration would extend the import ban on home appliances by the end of the current Iranian year (started on March 21,2022). Iran banned the import of home appliances from South Korea and other foreign brands in 2018.
