Iran to unveil 2nd-generation fighter soon

CEO of Aviation Industries of Iran's Ministry of Defense Manouchehr Manteqi said that Iran will soon introduce its second generation of fighter jets, Iran's IRIB news agency reported Feb. 2.

Manteqi who was speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony to officially hand over Iranian-made class 412 helicopters to the Red Crescent in Tehran stated that the fighter is a developed version of the previous Saeqeh fighter and is called Saeqeh 2.

"There is at least 3 times the previous generation innovation worked into the aircraft," he maintained.

He further added that starting next year (March 21), the Iranian defense industry is planning to introduce at least one instance of achievement in the field of aviation every month.

The Iranian aviation industry also plans to conduct flight tests on the Iranian-made eight-seat helicopter named Saba 248 this month.
