Iran plans to turn its East Azerbaijan Province into a hub for manufacturing of gas industry equipment and parts, Valiollah Dini, managing director of the province's gas company said Aug.27.
According to him, East Azerbaijan is the second Iranian province where a committee for development of oil and gas technologies has been established, Shana news agency reported.
Dini didn't explain which equipments and parts would be manufactured.
Iran delivers gas to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic as swap operations with Azerbaijan Republic and barters gas with Armenia from East Azerbaijan Province.
Iran's gas export to Turkey also passes from this province.
The 9th cross-country pipeline development project with 1,800 km length and 100 million cubic meters per day transit capacity also would be stretched from South Pars gas field to East Azerbaijan Province.
