Iran’s gas deliveries to power plants decreased by 2.5 times on Feb. 13 as compared to the warm seasons’ average.
Iran delivered 500 million cubic meters per day (mcm) of gas to housing sector, while 80 mcm/d and 40 mcm/d of gas were delivered to power plants and petrochemical sector, the spokesman of National Iranian Gas Company Majid Bujarzadeh said Feb. 14, Shana reported.
According to an official document prepared by Oil Ministry and seen by Trend, dramatic changes happened in the share of gas usage by Iran’s gas consuming sectors in winter, compared to warm seasons.
The document says Iran delivered 202 mcm/d of gas to power plants in spring and summer, while the gas supply to housing sector and petrochemical plants stood at 160 mcm/d and 49 mcm/d.
Gas usage in Iran’s housing sector triples in winter and in some weeks soar to above 500 mcm/d.
The latest statistics of Iran’s Energy Ministry indicate that the country used 53.447 bcm of gas in power plants during 320 days of current fiscal year (started on March 21, 2016), which means that 167 mcm/d was supplied in average.
Iran’s sweet gas production stands at about 700 mcm/d currently.
The gas delivery to power plants increased by 6.8 percent in 320 days of the current fiscal year.
The country consumed 4.617 billion liters of gas oil (a 12.2-percent decrease Y/Y) and 3.478 billion liters of fuel oil (a 43.4-percent decrease Y/Y) in power sector as well.
