Iran has exported over 240,000 tons of sweets and chocolates worth of $600 million to 66 countries around the globe over the last fiscal year (started March 20).
Jamshid Maghazei, secretary of the Association of Iranian Confectionery Manufacturing Companies, has said that the industry’s output over the last year stood at 1.6 million tons.
Speaking during an interview with the state-run radio, he added that the country annually produces about 700,000 tons of biscuits and cakes.
The value of Iran’s food exports rose by 8 percent over the last fiscal year standing at $2.077 billion. This is while the country exported 1.178 million tons of food.
Over the last fiscal year, the country’s non-oil exports, including gas condensates, registered a 3.254 percent increase with a total value of $43.93 billion.
