Over 36,842 domestic and international flights were carried out via Iranian airports in the last calendar month (March 20-April 20), Iran Airports Company (IAC) said.
More than 4.5 million passengers were transferred via Iranian airports in the 1-month period, according to the report.
Also 50 million kilograms of cargo was transported via Iranian airports in the period.
Mehrabad Airport in Tehran topped the Iranian airports in terms of flights with over 11,348 flights (1.32 million passengers), followed by Imam Khomeini International Airport (5,767 flights and 890,000 passengers) and Mashhad airport (5,576 flights and 811,000 passengers).
Meanwhile, Imam Khomeini airport stood at the first place among Iranian airports in terms of cargo transportation volume. Over 16 million kilograms of cargo was transferred via the Imam Khomeini Airport.
Mehrabad(11 million kilograms) and Mashhad(7.7 million kilograms) airports stood at next places.
Domestic flights through Iranian airports accounted to 28,780 in the period. About 3.3 million passengers were transferred via Iranian airports in domestic routes during the one-month. The volume of transported cargo in these routes was equal to 28 million kilograms.
Also 8,062 flights were carried out in international routes in the period. The number of passengers transferred via Iranian airports in international routs was 1.2 million, meanwhile 21.4 million kilograms of cargo were transported in the routes during the same span of time.
