Ships’ waste oil collected by ports in Iran’s Hormozgan province

Oil recycling centers of Iranian ports in Hormozgan province are ready to collect waste oil as part of the implementation of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL), Director General of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Organization Allahmorad Afifipour said in an interview with IRNA, Trend reports.

He said that oil recycling centers have been established at Shahid Rajaee Port, Shahid Bahonar Port, Bandar Lengeh Port, Shahid Haqqani Port and Persian Gulf Ship Building Complex.

He added that steps are being taken to prevent oil pollution in Hormozgan province.

Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Organization has taken steps towards the implementation of the MARPOL Convention in the nine months of this Iranian year (started March 21, 2018). Collection of 630 cubic meters of bilge water and 1,662 cubic meters of oil sludge can be mentioned as an example.
