Pasta, sugar and canned tuna increased in price in Iran following some reasons, Abbas Qubadi, secretary of the Iranian Market Regulatory Committee, said.

According to the current budget, wheat sale increased from 9,500 rials ($0.22 according to the official exchange rate and $0.06 according to the exchange rate in the black market) to 18,500 rials ($0.44 according to the official exchange rate, $0.12 according to the exchange rate in the black market), Qubadi added, Trend reports referring to Tasnim News Agency.

He said that the expenses also increased which resulted in a 70-percent-increase in the price of the pasta in the market.

Iran's sugar reserves are sufficient. However, consumption of sugar during Ramadan is rising. That's why 450,000-500,000 tons of sugar must be supplied to the market during Ramadan to avoid problems with the price, he said.

Qubadi said that Iran imports 50-60 percent of canned tuna.

The price of 180 grams of canned tuna varies between 85,000-350,000 rials in Iran ($2.02-8.33 according to the official exchange rate and $0.56-2.33 according to the exchange rate in the black market).

The price of 700 grams of pasta ranges between 21,000-135,000 rials ($0.5-3.21 according to the official exchange rate and $0.14-0.9 according to the exchange rate in the black market).

The price of 900 grams of sugar ranges between 40,000-150,000 rials ($0.95-3.57 according to the official exchange rate and $0.26-1 according to the exchange rate in the black market).
