Iran, Russia eye bilateral monetary pact

TEHRAN, Iran, September 9. Iran and Russia pursuing a bilateral monetary pact which will use the Russian ruble instead of the US dollar in trade, said the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Ali Salehabadi, Trend reports citing ILNA.

Members of the Central Bank of Russia are to visit Tehran to follow the implementation of the pact, he said.

The official underlined the formation of a working group with Russia to hold meetings in this regard while the two sides have ongoing weekly video conferences.

The Central Banks of Iran and Russia have agreed to expand cooperation in the financial and banking sector.
