BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 28. UzAuto (a production enterprise and sales network of vehicles in Uzbekistan) delivered over 418,000 vehicles under US General Motors' (automotive company) license for domestic and export markets in 2023, Vice President of General Motors International Global Purchasing and Supply Chain and Lead Executive for Uzbekistan and Central Asia Tommy Hosea told Trend.

“These vehicles are all part of the Chevrolet portfolio and currently make up roughly 80 percent of the vehicle market share in Uzbekistan,” he said.

Tommy Hosea noted that General Motors has a strong relationship with the transport sector in Uzbekistan. The company has been in an alliance relationship with UzAuto in the region since 2007.

“The market in Uzbekistan has been strong for many years, with great brand loyalty to Chevrolet. More recently, overseas competitors have started to enter the market,” he stressed.

According to him, UzAuto operates plants to build Chevrolet vehicles in Uzbekistan. These plants include the Asaka Plant in Andijan, which manufactures the Chevrolet Cobalt, Chevrolet Lacetti, Chevrolet Tracker, and Chevrolet Onix; the Khorezm Plant in Khorezm, which manufactures the Damas and Labo; and the UzAuto Powertrain Plant in Tashkent, which manufactures the 1.5L B-DOHC engines and the 1.2L CSS Prime engines.

Meanwhile, UzAuto Motors ranked first in terms of annual car production among the CIS and Central Asia countries in 2023.

The company manufactured 395,300 automobiles in 2023, keeping it in first place.

By 2022, UzAuto Motors had surpassed all other CIS and Central Asian manufacturers in terms of annual vehicle output.
