BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 29. Swiss Rieter (a supplier of systems for manufacturing yarn) is helping Uzbekistan’s textile industry seize the opportunities that arise from the surging demand for sustainable yarns, a source from the company told Trend.

“Rieter recently launched a comprehensive recycling toolbox designed for spinning high-quality fine ring yarns with up to 50 percent recycled fibers. The technology tools include pre-carding, which perfectly cleans recycled fibers before they enter the spinning process; combing, which efficiently removes very short fibers; and compacting, which adds the finishing touch to the yarn,” the source said.

The source noted that the company skillfully weaves together automation, robotics, digitization, data analytics, and artificial intelligence across its spinning systems in a bid to make yarn manufacturing smart, efficient, and sustainable. Spinning mills using Rieter systems obtain an intelligent and holistic view from bale to package that gives them a competitive edge while protecting the planet’s precious resources. Rieter’s Digital Spinning Suite ESSENTIAL connects data from across the entire spinning mill so that each user, from mill owner to operator, has an overview of the relevant information they need for their daily tasks.

“Rieter’s repair services station offers both mechanical and electronic repairs for all types of Rieter machines, including spinning and winding. In addition, the repair station has a warehouse where critical parts, such as control units, sensors, and drives, are stocked to ensure quick turnaround times for repairs,” the source from Rieter stressed.

According to the source, Uzbekistan is now an important manufacturer of high-quality cotton fiber, with an annual volume of around 1.1 million tons. The production and export of textile products is a key component of the country’s export revenue and gross domestic product and fuels the creation of high-end jobs in the textile sector, which are projected at around one million.

“Rieter aims to expand its strong position in the highly attractive Uzbek textile market, which is firmly poised for healthy growth. After entering the market as early as 1991, Rieter steadily built out its presence in the country. In its most recent move in December 2023, Rieter After Sales opened its first repair service station in the country’s capital, Tashkent, which will further enhance the competitiveness of local customers,” the source from the company added.

Rieter is the world’s leading supplier of systems for manufacturing yarn from staple fibers in spinning mills, based in Switzerland. The company develops and manufactures machinery, systems, and components used to convert natural and man-made fibers and their blends into yarns in the most cost-efficient manner. Rieter has 18 production locations in ten countries and employs a global workforce of around 5,100.
