Amount of loans issued in Iran's agricultural sector revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 18. Iranian banks extended loans worth 3.06 quadrillion rials (about $73 billion) in the agricultural sector in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), the statistics of Iran's Central Bank said, Trend reports.

The statistics show that 2.06 quadrillion rials (about $49 billion) worth of loans were granted as working capital in the agricultural sector.

The information shows that loans worth about 726 trillion rials (about $17 billion) were issued last year for establishing enterprises in the agricultural sector, building orchards, and farmlands.

Additionally, statistics show that 199 trillion rials (about $4.75 billion) worth of loans were granted last year for the development of Iran's agricultural sector.

However, the statistics indicate that about 68.2 trillion rials (about $1.62 billion) were granted for self-employment in the agricultural sector, 6 trillion rials (about $143 million) for the purchase of personal cars, 2.76 trillion rials for the purchase of housing (about $65.7 million), and a renovation loan of 207 billion rials (about $4.93 million).

To note, Iranian banks issued loans worth 46.1 quadrillion rials (about $1.01 trillion) last year.
