BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 18. The interests of the Caspian Sea countries can be ensured by moving away from old methods and entering the advanced field of digital transport corridors, Iran’s Deputy Transport Minister Saeed Rasouli said at the “Freight Transportation, Transport Cooperation, and Technical-Engineering Services” panel of the Caspian Sea Countries Economic Forum held in Tehran, Trend reports.
He believes that countries should strike while the iron is hot and capitalize on economic, trade, freight transportation, and transit agreements concerning the corridors linked to the Caspian Sea’s north-south and east-west routes. This way, they can turn the tide in favor of trade benefits.
Rasouli pointed out that two or three of the Caspian Sea countries have created considerable opportunities for attention in several organizations, including the North-South International Corridor, Ashgabat Transit Agreement, the Europe-Caucasus-Asia Transport Corridor (TRACECA), the Economic and Trade Cooperation Agreement of Caspian Sea states, BRICS, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Economic Cooperation Organization, and the Eurasian Economic Union.
The Deputy Minister suggested that major companies from Caspian Sea countries could collaborate effectively in the transport sector within a joint framework.
To note, the Caspian Sea Countries Economic Forum is being held in Tehran on February 17-18, with the participation of Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Iran.
