Tehran, Iran, December 7

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said there is no reason to leave the country's past nuclear issues dossier open.

He said the recent IAEA report on Iran contains parts that testify to Iran's non-divergence from peaceful nuclear activities.

The report shows that in the past 11 years, global powers have been making false accusations against Iran, Shamkhani asserted, IRNA news agency reported December 7.

However, he noted, the report contains parts that are faulty and unacceptable.

The IAEA's confession to the righteousness of Iran came late, but in itself was a departure from political games, he stated.

Last week the IAEA published its long-awaited report on Iran's nuclear activities. It was a fundamental departure from previous reports, in that it generally approved the peacefulness of Iran's nuclear activities in the past.

The report is going to be used as a basis for the group 5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) removal of sanctions on Iran, which is part of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA ) reached between the six powers and Iran in July.
