Iran receiving 2nd part of Russian S-300 delivery
Baku, Azerbaijan, July 1
By Emil Ilgar – Trend:
The second part of Russian S-300 systems delivery to Iran is underway, commander of Iran’s Khatam ol-Anbiya Air Defense Base, Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili has told reporters, according to Fars news agency.
The first part of S-300 surface-to-air missile systems delivery to Iran was carried out in April.
Esmaili also said the S-300 will be entirely delivered to Iran by March 2017.
The $800-million contract on S-300, signed in 2007 by Iran and Russia, was frozen by Moscow in 2010 due to the UN Security Council sanctions on Tehran, but President Vladimir Putin unfroze the deal in 2015.
