Iran's unemployment rate reaches new low

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. Iran's unemployment rate in the fall season of the current Iranian year (from December 22, 2023 through March 19, 2024) for people aged 15 years and older decreased by 1.1 percent compared to the same period last year, the statistics of Iran's Statistical Center said, Trend reports.

According to the statistics, the number of unemployed in the fall season was about 2.27 million (2,268,954) people. This is 8.6 percent of the working-age population.

The statistics indicate that the number of unemployed between 15 and 24 years old was about 560,000 (559,869) people, and the number of unemployed between 18 and 35 years old was about 1.5 million (1,519,338) people.

The information shows that the number of unemployed people with higher education in the fall season was about 885,000 (884,884). This is 3.32 percent less than in the same period last year.

The statistics add that the number of people aged 15 and above in Iran during the period amounted to about 64.8 million (64,837,175). Out of them, about 37.4 million (38,374,635) people were considered inactive on economic issues, and about 26.5 million (26,462,540) people were considered active on economic issues.
