President Aliyev orders to allocate funds for construction of kindergartens in regions

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order Feb. 12 on measures to build kindergartens in the country's regions.

According to the order, 19.577 million manats will be allocated from the investment expenditures of the 2018 state budget to the Agency for Restoration and Reconstruction of Territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan Liberated From Occupation to build 1,230-seat kindergartens in 15 cities and regions with a population of more than 306,000 people.

Ilham Aliyev approves State Program for Development of Tea Industry

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order Feb. 12 approving the State Program for the Development of Tea Industry for 2018-2027.

According to the order, the state program is approved to develop tea growing, increase the export potential in this industry, and ensure the employment of rural population.

President Aliyev approves state program on development of citrus fruit growing

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order approving the state program for development of citrus fruit growing for 2018-2025.

According to the order, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economy have been instructed to take the necessary measures every year during formation of state budget and state investment programs in order to take account of the funds for financing the events envisaged in the approved state program.

The Ministry of Agriculture has been instructed to coordinate the implementation of the events envisaged in the state program and to inform the Azerbaijani president about the state program's implementation once in a year.

Azerbaijani Parliament adopts bill on free-trade zone in Alat, Baku

Azerbaijani Parliament adopted a new bill "On Alat free-trade zone" during its plenary session.

The new bill is drafted according to the corresponding order of the President of Azerbaijan, providing for the creation of free-trade zone in Alat settlement in Garadagh district of Baku, Vice-speaker of the Parliament, Chairman of the National Resources, Energy and Ecology Committee Valeh Alasgarov noted addressing the Parliament session.

"Specialists, lawyers and experts, who participated in the bill drafting, looked into international legislation on free-trade zones in details. Practices, creating the most favorable conditions for investors, were used as basis," Alasgarov said.

The bill consists of five parts and 30 articles.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on March 17, 2016, on measures to create a Free Trade Zone type special economic area covering the territory of the Baku International Sea Trade Port in the Alat township of Baku's Garadagh district.

Consulting services in free-trade zone creation are provided by Dubai Port World, one of the world's major port operators, and Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), member of Islamic Development Bank.

Ilham Aliyev approves State Program for Development of Official Statistics

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order Feb. 14 approving the State Program for the Development of Official Statistics in Azerbaijan in 2018-2025.

The order is aimed at ensuring the development of official statistics in the country in accordance with international standards, modernizing the information support for assessing the achievement of the goals and objectives reflected in the strategic roadmaps, expanding the use of administrative information sources, and accelerating the reforms in the national statistics system.

Azerbaijan allocates funds for irrigation of sown areas in Jojug Marjanli village

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on additional measures to provide sown plots with water in Jojug Marjanli village in the country's Jabrayil district Feb. 14.

According to the order, 700,000 manats will be allocated to the Azerbaijan Land Reclamation and Water Management OJSC to complete the construction work, which will result in provision of Jojug Marjanli village, as well as Mirzanagili and Gazakhlar villages of Fizuli district with irrigation water.

President allocates funds for construction of carpet weaving workshop in Nakhchivan

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed an order on measures related to the construction of a carpet weaving workshop in the city of Nakhchivan.

Under the presidential order, 2 million manats was allocated from the state budget to Azerkhalcha Open Joint-Stock Company for 2018.

Azerbaijan may adopt new law on standardization

Azerbaijan may adopt a new "Law on Standardization."

The draft of the new law was discussed Feb. 14 at a meeting of Azerbaijan's parliamentary committee on economic policy, industry and entrepreneurship.

The new law consists of six sections and 27 articles. The law defines the goals and principles of standardization, the preparation, adoption and application of normative documents in the field of standardization, sources of financing standardization activities and other issues.

Under the document, the work planning on preparation of state standards will be carried out on the basis of a three-year national standardization program, which should be formed, approved and published by the national standardization body.

The draft reads that state standards will be marked with the 'AZS' sign.

The law, if adopted at the plenary session of the Azerbaijani Parliament, will enter into force 90 days after the publication.
