BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 8. The largest share of visitors arriving in Georgia in March 2022 accounted for Turkey, with 42,421 visitors, Trend reports via Georgian National Tourism Administration.

The number of visitors from Turkey in the reporting period of 2022 increased by 109.6 percent, compared to 20,237 people over the same month of 2021. The same figure slightly increased by 3.2 percent, compared to 41,121 visitors in March 2020, however, decreased by 43.6 percent, compared to 75,249 people over the same period of 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic).

Turkey is followed by Russia with 22,536 visitors, which is an increase of 379.2 percent, compared to 4,703 tourists over the same period of 2021. However, the current figure decreased by 31.7 percent, compared to 32,981 people in March 2020, and by 77.1 percent, compared to the same period of 2019 (98,480).

The remaining countries (compared to March 2021):

- Armenia – 21,990 visitors (288.8-percent increase);

- Georgia (non-resident) – 17,145 visitors (136.8-percent increase);

- Azerbaijan – 14,554 visitors (244.4-percent increase);

- Israel – 12,308 visitors (23-times increase);

- Iran – 7,070 visitors (740.7-percent increase);

- Ukraine – 6,375 visitors (104.7-percent increase);

- Kazakhstan– 5,358 visitors (427.4-percent increase);

- Belarus – 5,260 visitors (593-percent increase).

The total number of international visitors to Georgia in March 2022 amounted to 211,484 visitors, which is an increase of 266.3 percent, compared to 57,728 over the same period of 2021.
