SHUSHA, Azerbaijan, July 6. Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is to become regional civil aviation hub, President Ersin Tatar said today during an Informal Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Shusha city, Trend reports.
“It's crucial and historical that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is represented today in the ancient city of Shusha as an inseparable part of the Turkic world. This is of paramount importance and is a historical event.
In terms of transport connectivity, Ercan Airport, Gecitkale Airport and the internationally recognized Gazimagusa Port offer different opportunities for the Organization of Turkic States. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will become a regional hub for civil aviation and a reliable transit country for maritime traffic. Our relevant ministry submitted an application to the Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States regarding the port of Gazimagus," he added.
The summit, organized at the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, is attended by Secretary General of the OTS Kubanychbek Omuraliev, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar, Vice President of Türkiye Cevdet Yilmaz, and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban.
