Five people were killed during Sunday's protests in Morocco, Interior Minister Taieb Cherkaoui said Monday, dpa reported.
The authorities had hitherto confirmed no deaths or injuries.
Cherkaoui, however, said the charred bodies of five people had been found inside a bank that had been set on fire by rioters in Al Hoceima.
The minister also said 128 people including 115 members of the security forces had been injured, and 120 people detained.
Nearly 40,000 people attended pro-democracy rallies around the country, according to figures given by Cherkaoui.
