University students protest in Damascus, Aleppo

Dozens of university students gathered Wednesday in cities of Damascus and Aleppo to protest for "freedom and the martyrs," Xinhua reported according to the official SANA news agency.

In Damascus, about 30 students from Sharia College gathered Wednesday in front of the college and shouted slogans for freedom and the martyrs, while hundreds of people protested against messing with Syria's security and stability, said SANA.

The two sides wrangled and were later dispersed, added SANA.Meanwhile, some 20 students from Aleppo's Antiquities College gathered, shouting slogans for freedom and the martyrs, according to SANA.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has made a series of gestures towards reform, including sacking his cabinet and removing two governors.
