The British embassy in Kuwait has temporarily suspended operations following a terror threat, the Foreign Office in London said Thursday, DPA reported.
"We are aware of an increased terrorist threat against the British embassy in Kuwait," a spokeswoman said. "We have therefore taken the precaution of temporarily suspending embassy services."
The spokeswomen refused to comment on speculation that the closure is linked to a forthcoming trip to Kuwait by Britain's Prince Charles.
Prince Charles, and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, were due to take part in Kuwait's 50th anniversary celebrations on October 31 and November 1.
They were also due to visit Qatar before travelling on to South Africa and Tanzania.
