Voting was suspended at a polling station in the southern district of Giza near the Egyptian capital Cairo due to violence on Wednesday, dpa reported.

Electoral officials said supporters of two rival candidates running in the second round of parliamentary became involved in a gunfight.

The polling station was closed as security forces and the military intervened to end the fighting.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
