Test results of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's corpse would be handed to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) in the middle of September, a PNA official said Tuesday, Xinhua reported.

A Swiss lab that examined samples from Arafat's remains would complete the results around the middle of September, said Tawfiq Al-Tirawi, head of the Palestinian committee that follows the investigation into Arafat's death in 2004.

"So far, the Swiss lab did not give us any initial indications or results on the deaths of Arafat's death," Al-Tirawi told Xinhua. However, he added that there were no obstacles preventing the results from being handed down and declared next month.

In November 2012, French and Russian investigators joined the Swiss experts in exhuming Arafat's body from his graveyard in the West Bank city of Ramallah and collected samples for further investigation.

Arafat died at a French military hospital in 2004 from an undisclosed or unknown condition.

Last year, an investigative report aired by the pan-Arab television network, al-Jazeera, found traces of radioactive polonium on Arafat's personal belongings after they were tested by the same Swiss lab.

At the time, Palestinian officials hinted that Israel was behind the death of Arafat after it prevented him from leaving his Ramallah headquarters for two years.
