Participation of Saudi Arabia and Iran in the Geneva-2 international conference on Syria is needed to make the dialogue more fruitful, United Nations/ League of Arab States envoy on Syria Lakhdar Barhimi said in an interview with Sunday's issue of the Jeune Afrique journal, ITAR-TASS reported.
He called to show a more practical approach as far as the participation in the Geneva-2 conference was concerned. "All who have their interests, who want to protect them or who have influence on the situation should take part," he said.
At the same time, he noted that neither the ruling regime nor the Syrian opposition wanted Israel to take part in the conference.
