Netanyahu is scheduled to visit Washington in May, to address the conference of the America-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
News of the invitation comes as the Jerusalem Post daily reported that Netanyahu is set to unveil a new diplomatic initiative in May.
The premier has advanced no details of his plan, but according to the Post, his plan could include a reiteration of the two-state solution, and turning all major Palestinian cities over to the Palestinian Authority, giving it control over 90 per cent of the Palestinian population.
