A Taliban Chief in Pakistan has accepted responsibility for the killing of his rival pro-government militant commander Zainuddin Masood, reported Press TV.

Baitullah Mahsud, the Chief of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, claimed on Wednesday that they killed Commander Qari Zainuddin because he was a rebel.

Zainuddin was shot on Tuesday morning in the northwestern Pakistani town of Dera Ismail Khan.

Analysts believe this will affect the Pakistani government's ongoing operation against the Taliban in South and North Waziristan Agencies.

Zainuddin and some other tribal leaders had also announced that they would take measures to unite tribesmen in the fight against Baitullah Mahsud.
