Today the powers of Chief of General Staff of Turkish Armed Force will be transferred to the former commander of the Land Forces of Turkey Hulusi Akar, Milliyet reported.
The devolution was planned for August 30, but in view of the situation in Turkey, the new chief takes responsibilities earlier than it was planned.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will attend the ceremony which will start at 17:30 local time.
Earlier, Hulusi Akar, former Land Forces Commander has been appointed the new Chief of General Staff of Turkish Armed Force, after Necdet Ozel has resigned due to health problems.
Necdet Ozel was appointed chief of Turkish General Staff on Aug. 4, 2011.
Akar has been the land forces commander of Turkish armed forces since 2013.
