Turkey's opposition Great Unity Party (BBP) is ready to support the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the upcoming elections, said Mahir Unal, spokesman and deputy chairman of the AKP, Turkish media reported on April 24.
Unal noted that BBP had repeatedly stated about readiness to support AKP in the parliamentary and presidential elections.
Earlier, Leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Devlet Bahceli said he supports candidacy of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the early presidential election scheduled for June 24.
On April 18, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated about the need for early presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey.
"The government welcomed the proposal of Devlet Bahceli [leader of the Nationalist Movement Party] to hold early elections. The elections will be held on June 24, 2018," he said.
Bahceli previously proposed to hold early parliamentary and presidential elections in Turkey. Bahceli said the early elections should be held on Aug. 26.
Presidential, parliamentary and municipal elections were planned to be held in Turkey in 2019.
