Turkish Parliament Speaker Binali Yildirim will hold this post until March 2019, Trend reports with reference to Turkish media Dec. 24.
Yildirim will transfer his powers on March 3, 2019 due to the expected nomination of his candidacy for participation in the election for the post of head of Istanbul municipality.
Yildirim’s candidacy hasn’t yet been nominated for participation in this election.
On Nov. 29, it was reported that Yildirim is preparing to resign due to the expected nomination of his candidacy for the post of head of Istanbul municipality.
The official nomination of Yildirim’s candidacy for the post of head of Istanbul municipality will be announced by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Earlier, Erdogan nominated the candidacy of Turkey’s former economy minister Nihat Zeybekci for the post of head of Izmir municipality.
The candidacy of former minister of the environment and urban planning of Turkey Mehmet Ozhaseki was nominated for the post of head of Ankara municipality.
The municipal elections in Turkey will be held on March 31, 2019. The municipal elections in Turkey are held every five years.
