ARAR A.S., a privately owned, integrated oil and gas company with production and exploration assets in Turkey, applied to the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources to obtain a license for oil and gas exploration in the country, Trend reports referring to the ministry.

The ministry is currently considering the company's appeal for oil and gas exploration.

The ministry noted that previously the oil and gas company ARAR received a license for oil and gas exploration in provinces such as Adana, Osmaniye and Mersin in a territory with a total area of 75,000 hectares.

A law was passed in Turkey in April 2014, allowing oil exploration in forests and national parks.

According to the report of the Ministry of Energy, a total of 56 wells have been drilled as part of the exploration of new oil and gas fields in Turkey since 2014, 54 of which are onshore and two are at sea.

Turkey also plans to create a new company for the exploration of oil and gas abroad, which is expected to work in Central Asian and African countries.
