Hydroelectric power plants will be built in two provinces of Turkey, Trend reports referring to the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

The power plants will be built in Yozgat and Tokat provinces.

"Currently, work is underway to prepare for the start of construction. Land plots will be privatized as part of the construction of the hydropower plants in these provinces, after which tenders will be announced," the ministry noted.

As previously reported, 10 wind farms will be built in five provinces of Turkey within two years.

Ex-Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Berat Albayrak stated earlier that Turkey plans to invest $1 billion in the development of renewable energy sources.

According to him, the construction of new power plants will increase Turkey’s energy security. The ex-minister also noted that the new project on the development of renewable energy sources will provide jobs for about 3,750 people.
