Turkey reveals Jan. 2021 volume of oil products shipped through ports

Over 4.4 million tons of oil products were transshipped through the ports of Turkey in January 2021, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Feb.19.

According to the ministry, in the reporting month, 306,529 tons of oil products were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 4.1 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Meanwhile, slightly over 4 million tons of the products were transited via the country's ports, the ministry added.

Overall, in January 2021, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to over 29.1 million tons, including more than 2.5 million tons by ships flying the Turkish flag.

During the reporting month, 6.04 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

Besides, according to the ministry, in 2020, the volume of cargo movement through the Turkish ports amounted to 365.4 million tons. Some 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled by ships flying Turkish flag, and 335.7 million tons – by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Over the past year, more than 72.4 million tons of cargo had been transited through the ports of Turkey, added the ministry.
