US boosts imports of Turkish-made clothes

Turkey increased the export of ready-to-wear clothes to the US by 36.4 percent in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period of 2020, up to $196.7 million, the Turkish Ministry of Trade told Trend.

In March 2021, exports of ready-to-wear clothes from Turkey to the US surged by 52.8 percent compared to the same month of 2020, amounting to $74 million, said the ministry.

From January through March 2021, Turkey’s exports of ready-to-wear clothes abroad increased by 11.6 percent year on year, surpassing $4.7 billion.

Turkey exported ready-to-wear clothes to foreign markets in the amount of $1.67 billion in March 2021, which is 38.7 percent more compared to March 2020.

Over the past 12 months (from March 2020 through March 2021), the value clothes export from Turkey to international markets totaled $17.6 billion.
