Turkey discloses volume of cargo transported via its third biggest port in January 2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 18

Some 6.1 million tons of cargo were transshipped via Aliaga port, third biggest port in Turkey, in January 2022, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend .

According to the ministry, ships flying the Turkish flag through Aliaga port transported 237,138 tons while ships flying the flags of other countries – 5.9 million tons.

Some 128,932 tons of cargo were transited through Aliaga port in January 2022, the ministry said.

Moreover, 33.3 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports in January 2022.

During the reporting period, 2.4 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag through the domestic ports.

Some 30.9 million tons of goods were shipped through the Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Moreover, 7.7 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports during the reporting period, the ministry said.

The Turkish ports as a whole handled 386.4 million tons of goods in 2021.

Some 29.9 million tons of cargo were transported through domestic ports by ships flying the Turkish flag, while 356.4 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Thus, 78.008 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in 2021.
