Turkey sees increase in cargo turnover at Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Int’l Airport

The cargo turnover of Turkey’s Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport reached 24,682 tons in January 2022, which is 1.7 times more than in January 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

According to the ministry, cargo turnover on domestic flights reached 8,123 tons in January 2022 (an increase of four percent compared to January 2021), on international flights - 16,559 tons (an increase of 14 times).

The passenger traffic at the airport reached 2.006 million people in January 2022, which is 54 percent more than in January 2021.

At the same time, passenger traffic on domestic flights reached 1.02 million people (an increase of 14 percent), on international flights – 988,950 people (an increase of 1.4 times).

According to the ministry, the number of flights reached 15,068 in January 2022, which is by 46 percent more than in January 2021.

Thus, the number of domestic flights reached 7,181 (an increase of 13 percent), international flights - 7,887 (an increase of 99 percent).

The passenger traffic at all airports in Turkey reached 9.3 million people while the cargo turnover – 237,180 tons in January 2022.

Moreover, the passenger traffic at all airports in Turkey reached 128.4 million people while the cargo turnover – 3.3 million tons in 2021.
