BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. A total of 10,333 vehicles were delivered from Turkish port of Mersin to the Italian port of Trieste from January through March 2022, and 12,897 in the opposite direction, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkiye told Trend.
Therefore, the transshipment of cars between two ports amounted to 23,230 in the specified period.
Turkish ports handled 194,766 cars in May 2022.
According to the ministry, in the reporting month, Ro-Ro ships delivered 82,593 cars to Turkish ports, while 112,173 cars were transshipped from the ports of Turkiye.
Besides, the country’s ports handled 939,616 cars from January through May this year, the ministry noted.
Meanwhile, Ro-Ro ships delivered 369,667 cars to Turkish ports, and 569,949 cars were sent from the ports, added to the ministry.
The ports of Turkiye handled 2.09 million cars, whereas Ro-Ro ships delivered 790,274 cars to the ports in 2021.
Totally, over 1.3 million cars were sent from Turkish ports by Ro-Ro ships last year.
