BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 10. The number of passengers arriving at Türkiye's Istanbul International Airport in March 2024 increased by 9 percent year-on-year to 17.6 million people, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure of Türkiye said, Trend reports.
Additionally, it was noted that in March 2024, the airport's passenger turnover on domestic flights increased by 7 percent compared to the same period in 2023 and amounted to 3.5 million people, and on international flights, it increased by 9 percent and amounted to 14.1 million people.
The airport's cargo turnover in March 2024 was 731,651 tons, an increase of 15 percent compared to the same period in 2023. Moreover, the airport's cargo turnover for domestic flights in March 2024 increased by 4 percent compared to the same period in 2023 and amounted to 41,670 tons, and for international flights, it increased by 15 percent compared to the same period and amounted to 689,982 tons.
According to the information, the number of flights from the airport in March 2024 increased by 6 percent compared to March 2023 and amounted to 120,148. Meanwhile, the number of flights performed on domestic flights decreased by 5 percent to 26,435, while the number of flights performed on international flights increased by 9 percent to 93,713.
Passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye in March this year amounted to 43.8 million people, and cargo turnover was 1 million tons.
To note, passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye in 2023 was 214 million people, and cargo turnover was 4.2 million tons.
