Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Jan Mladek arrives in Azerbaijan for a visit Jan. 16.
During the visit, the minister will be accompanied by a delegation of representatives of several ministries and agencies of the Czech Republic, as well as representatives of big Czech companies, the Azerbaijani embassy in Prague told Trend.
The next meeting of the Azerbaijani-Czech intergovernmental commission and a business forum will be held as part of the Baku visit. Jan Mladek also plans to hold several meetings in the Azerbaijani government and parliament.
Czech companies intend to offer new projects to the Azerbaijani side on cooperation in the spheres of construction, pharmaceutics, as well as financial sector.
Earlier, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the Czech Republic Farid Shafiyev told Trend that prospects of cooperation in these spheres, as well as the strengthening of trade and economic relations in general will be discussed during the next meeting of the Azerbaijani-Czech intergovernmental commission.
The ambassador noted that during the visit, the Czech delegation will be accompanied by representatives of big Czech companies operating in the spheres of agriculture and food industry, finance, insurance, energy, logistics, construction, law, petrochemistry, engineering and various fields of economy.
The Czech Republic ranks 12th among major importers from Azerbaijan.
Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic amounted to $312.02 million in January-November 2016 and $214.17 million of this amount accounted for the export of Azerbaijani products to the Czech Republic.
The specific weight of the Czech Republic in Azerbaijan’s total export was 2.58 percent in 11 months of 2016.
